November 4, 2008: Exerpts from Congresswoman McCollum's election night speech to DFL activists in St. Paul

I believe in the greatness of America.  I believe in the strength of the American people to face the serious challenges confronting our country – from the economy to healthcare, and from energy independence to ending the war in Iraq.

I believe so strongly that tomorrow will be a new beginning because I believe in the man who will lead our nation forward with strength, integrity and courage.

Tomorrow is a new beginning for America because America believes in Barack Obama.

Democrats, this campaign has proven Minnesota wants change. America wants change.

Minnesotans want hope.  America wants hope.

But most of all, Minnesotans and people all across this country are ready to end the partisan politics, roll-up our sleeves, and get to work fixing the real problems our families are facing everyday.
